I just heard this quote from an old Barney video I used to watch all the time growing up. (Now it's my little brother's new favorite video. Funny how that worked out huh? :))
Anyways, the scene with that quote is when two kids are waiting for Santa to come to their house, and they are hoping to stay up and see him. The sister tells her brother, referring to Santa, "just because you can't see him, doesn't mean he's not watching."
That quote, for the first time out of the hundreds of times I've seen this video, resonated with me. But not about Santa.
I've heard many variations of the truthfulness of this quote, referring instead to Heavenly Father and the Savior, Jesus Christ. They are watching us, even if we can't see them. They are also there for us, even if we can't see them. I know this is true, and it brings me great comfort. I'm grateful they are always beside me, ready to help me when I need them. It also inspires me to want to do better, because I know they are watching me. I want to make them happy.
